Newtown Renovations is an Edinburgh-based home improvements company specialising in quality joinery and window refurbishments. Jonathon Morrice’s business attracts discerning clients across Edinburgh and the Lothians. It’s a competitive market. To help attract more of the right kind of home-owner, Jonathon wanted a new brand identity for his well-established business. This brand was to reflect the team’s experience and craftmanship, give a hint to heritage but with an eye on contemporary.
Key elements to consider were history, the range of work undertaken and the fact that Newtown Renovations are about restoring the past while building the future. We looked at how that could be represented in a neat, easy-to-understand way and created a motif born out of these elements.

Using Edinburgh’s new town iconic sash window shape as a starting point, we combined a simplified house icon with the recycling symbol to create a motif that represents the essence of the brand – encouraging renovation and home improvement over replacing and re-locating.
Paired with a clean, sans serif font the brand now reflects the modern, stylish forward-thinking company that they are.

Key to showing off Newtown Renovations’ quality work is cracking photography. That’s where our friends, bluesky photography, came in. Capturing project details and the team at work, the photo suite is used throughout the site and on social channels.
