Whilst on our family holiday, a fellow Scot sparked up a conversation with me and my brother. He was a nice chap and even after a number of large Heinekens, I was able to remember the next day that he had mentioned there was an amazing car museum somewhere nearby. I Googled it in my groggy state and found it was called the Louwman Museum. Even better, it was only a few miles from our holiday park!

I’m not entirely sure what I was expecting, but boy did the Louwman Museum exceed it. What a place! If you are ever near Amsterdam or the Hague and you have even a passing interest in automobile history, then it is an absolute must see. I can’t believe I have never heard of the place before. The collection of cars and automobilia is amazing, with everything from very early carriages and steam cars right through all of the eras up to current day. Although the collection focuses more on the older cars, there are still some cracking examples from the 70’s and 80’s. Check out this lot.

So, thanks to that nice chap from Paisley. If it wasn’t for him I’d never have known about the place! Oh… the rest of the holiday was quite good too.
